Harland Harold Paul Schmidt

Harland Harold Paul Schmidt, age 74 of Silver Lake passed away on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017.

He was born in Litchfield on August 19, 1942 the son of Harold and Clara (Johnson) Schmidt.

On October 17, 1963, he was joined in holy marriage in Hutchinson to Donna Johnson.   God blessed their marriage with five children. 

He was employed for many years as a truck driver and spent many years trucking all over the United States.  Harland also held many other various jobs.  He was the Manager at the Silver Lake Hatchery for several years and many years later helped his son Brian in the hatchery building with his motorsports business. 

Harland enjoyed hunting deer, water fowl, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed listening to country music and watching western movies.

Survived by wife: Donna Schmidt; children: Brian Schmidt and fiancée Brenda of Hutchinson, Darrell Schmidt of Silver Lake, Lori Berg-Pritchett of Freeport, Jeff Schmidt of Litchfield and Todd Schmidt of Silver Lake; seven grandchildren: Brianna (John) Korson, Kerry, Candice, Cody and Staci, Cole, Chris and Samantha; six great grandchildren: Karissa, Hunter, Reese, Devin, Henry and William; siblings: Henry (Trudy) Schmidt, Caroline (Dave) Thomas and Elaine (Richard) Dollerschell; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and by his parakeet “Tweety”.

Funeral Services for Harland Schmidt will be held on Monday, June 26th, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.  Reverend Dr. Tom Rakow will officiate.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25th from 5-7 at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake and will continue on Monday, June 26th from Noon until the time of services.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Brianna Korson, Kerry. Candice, Cody and Cole Schmidt.
