Raymond Richard Mrkvicka, age 93, of Cosmos and formerly of Silver Lake passed away on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at Cedar Crest of Cosmos.
He was born on September 4, 1923 in Hale Township, McLeod County the son of Frank & Mary (Kucera) Mrkvicka.
Raymond graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1942.
He honorably served his Country in the United States Army during World War II.
He farmed North of Silver Lake and later worked at Tonka Toys in Mound.
Raymond enjoyed polka music.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, American Legion Post # 141 and belonged to The McLeod County Historical Society.
Survived by two nieces and two nephews: Diane Chesshir, Dennis (Linda) Witucki, Jenise (Paul) Henke and Jim (Tammy) Mrkvicka; six great nephews and two great nieces; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Frank & Mary Mrkvicka, a sister Marion Witucki, a brother Roger Mrkvicka, a brother-in-law Gus Witucki and by a sister-in-law Shirley Mrkvicka.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Mrkvicka will be held on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Paul Schumacher will be the Celebrant.
Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30th one hour prior to Mass at the church.
