Donald "Don" Louis Ranzau

Donald Louis Ranzau, age 79 of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was born July 23, 1939 in Litchfield, the son of Louis and Evangeline (Rannow) Ranzau.

Don was raised in Biscay, MN, and was a 1957 graduate of Glencoe High School. Don was a proud Navy Veteran and was at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis,  Maryland.

On April 11, 1961, Donald Ranzau and Beatrice Urban were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. They were blessed with three children and raised them in the house that Don built.

Don was an accountant/plant manager at Hutchinson Manufacturing, Scherping Systems and Millerbernd. Don was also a member of the Silver Lake Ambulance Service for 20+ years, Sportsman’s Club, Silver Lake Lions, and was a trainer for the Silver Lake High School football team. He enjoyed dancing with Bea, gardening, keeping the lawn perfect, reading, biking, making sauerkraut, woodworking, hunting and fishing, and the trips made out to Wyoming and Montana. Family was also an important part of Don’s life, and he was especially proud of his granddaughters.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Evangeline Ranzau; daughter, Gwen Campbell; and granddaughter, Madeline Campbell.

Don is survived by his wife, Bea Ranzau; son, DuWayne Ranzau; daughter, Deb (Bob) Stolt; son-in-law, Chris Campbell; granddaughters, Haley Stolt, Lauren Stolt; and many other loving family and friends.

Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Tony Stubeda as Celebrant. Interment with Military Rites will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
