Hubert P. Schermann

Hubert P. Schermann, age 81, of Silver Lake passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

He was born on January 15, 1937 in Winsted, the son of Frank and Anna (Stifter) Schermann.

Hubert honorably served his Country in The Army National Guard.

On August 22, 1959, Hubert Schermann and Margaret Mallak were joined in holy marriage at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with four children. Following their marriage, Hubert and Margaret moved their family to a small hobby farm south of Silver Lake and lived there many years.

Hubert worked as a mechanic at Green Giant in Glencoe, and owned and operated Schermann Awnings and Door Hoods for many years.

He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.  Hubert also belonged to American Legion Post #141, Silver Lake Lions Club, The Catholic Aid, The Degree of Honor, and The Silver Lake Senior Club.

Hubert truly loved playing cards!  

Survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years: Margaret; daughters: Dianna Olson, Debra Jaqua and Pamela (Patrick) Squires; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother: Marcella Pokornowski, Norbert (Marlene) Schermann and Laura Kaczmarek; other relatives and many friends.

Preceeded in death by a son Ronald Schermann on April 8, 2012, his parents, a brother Donald, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Sylvester and Barbara Mallak.

A Concelebrated Memorial Mass for Hubert Schermann will be held on Friday, August 24th at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.  Father Mark Mallak will be the Celebrant and Father  Tony Stubeda and Father Paul Schumacher will be the Concelebrants.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23rd from 4-8 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.  A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 6:00 P.M.

Further visitation will be held on Friday, August 24th at the church one hour prior to Mass.

Alice Nowak will be the organist for the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake is serving the family.
