Alice Totusek Obituary

Alice Carol Totusek, age 92, of Silver Lake passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Cedar Crest Estates in Silver Lake. Celebration of Life visitation at Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1-3 pm. Alice Carol was born on July 30, 1933, in Silver Lake, the daughter of Albin and Jane (Merrill) Trutna. She was baptized and later confirmed in her faith at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake. She received her education and was a graduate of Silver Lake High School Class of 1951. Alice Carol was united in marriage to Milton Totusek on August 18, 1951, at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake. They would have celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing on July 31, 2015. They adopted their daughter DeAnn on November 18, 1954. They had two grandchildren, Kristopher and Crystal and two great grandchildren – Kira and Maxwell Fiecke. Alice Carol was famous for her angel food cakes. At one time they had over 4500 chickens and she had to find a use for the “cracks” that couldn’t go to the produce. Usually, white angel food was the choice, but if she wanted to get fancy, she would add some cherry jello for a pink cake or cocoa for a chocolate one. She would also get up at 2 am to start the dough for kolaches so they came out of the oven by 8 am for fresh, warm treats which she also shared with neighbors and friends. Besides helping on the farm, she liked to garden and mowing her lawn, always one rectangle at a time. She also enjoyed babysitting the grandchildren and her two neighbor girls. She and Milton traveled across the United States and abroad, Ireland, Czech Republic, China and Holy Land. She was a member of the Silver Lake Legion Auxiliary for 75 years. She also belonged to Senior Citizens and Degree of Honor lodge in Silver Lake before becoming a resident of Cedar Crest in March 2019. Alice Carol is survived by daughter, DeAnn and husband Robert Fiecke. Grandchildren Kristopher and wife Allison Fiecke of Buffalo and Crystal Fiecke of Cokato. Great grandchildren Kira and Maxwell Fiecke of Buffalo. She is further survived by her brother Lyman Trutna of St Joseph, Minnesota as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding her in death, her parents Albin and Jane Trutna, sister Nancy and brother-in-law Floyd Ondracek, sister-in-law Mary Jane Trutna, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Margaret Totusek. Thank you to Cedar Crest staff for their care over the past 7 years and Ridgeview Hospice of Waconia for their care since August. The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake is serving the family.
