Anthony "Tony" Posusta, Jr.

Anthony "Tony" Posusta, Jr., age 91 of Silver Lake, MN, passed away on November 30, 2020 at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, MN. He was born on March 31, 1929 to Anton, Sr. and Jenny (Novotny) Posusta. He grew up on the family farm in rural Silver Lake and resided there until he entered GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, MN in March of 2018. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended Rich Valley country school.

On December 30, 1950, he was united in holy marriage to Avis Reml at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake, now known as Holy Family Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with six sons.

Tony was a hardworking, devoted husband and father. He was owner and operator of several businesses including Sinclair Gas and Service Station, Posusta Trucking and Posusta Busing.  Tony also worked for Reml Gravel and Green Giant. He was a dairy and crop farmer as well. Tony was a very talented mechanic and taught his skill to his sons.

In the early years on Sunday afternoons, he enjoyed taking his family to visit relatives and neighbors. He also liked having the annual Posusta 4th of July party at the farm, with a great display of fireworks. Tony and Avis enjoyed camping and traveling with family. He liked sitting on the deck with Avis watching the birds and wildlife. Tony was very fond of spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Tony is preceded in death by Avis, his wife of 69 years; son, Larry; grandson, Justin Posusta; parents, Anton, Sr. and Jenny Posusta; and also his siblings, Adeline (Harlow) Penaz, Donald (Helen) Posusta, Leonard (Janet) Posusta, and Elaine (Albert) Ernhart.

He is survived by sons, Ronald (Brenda), Michael (Wanda), Ralph (Mona), James (Chris), and Roger (Sandra); 11 grandchildren, Bryan (Daina) Posusta, Brent (Molly) Posusta, Tyler (Ashlynd) Posusta, Nicholas (Roseann) Posusta, Jesse (Jenn) Posusta, Candace (Chad) Pierson, Nathan Posusta, Miranda (John) Smith, Shauna Posusta, Rachael (Charlie) Kern, and Trevor Posusta; 12 great-grandchildren, Madison, Brittin, Brooklyn, Kinley, Max, Everly, Destiny, Gabriella, Willa, Levi, McKayla, and Maverick; and many other relatives and friends.

Private family graveside service will be held at Holy Family Cemetery. Father John Hayes will officiate.
