Anthony “Tony” O. Victorian, age 90, of Silver Lake, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Cedar Crest Estate in Silver Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 19 at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with Rev. Matthew Wiering officiating. Visitation will be held at Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake, on Wednesday, March 18 from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm. A Prayer service will be held at 6:00 P.M. followed by a KC Rosary. Further visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass on Thursday morning, March 19th. Interment to follow service at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandsons Tony Swanson, Josh Victorian, Alex Victorian, Kyle Victorian, Jordan Bock, Noah Yurek, and Nate Konen.
Tony was born on May 13, 1935, in Round Grove Township, McLeod County, MN, the son of Oliver and Mary (Oberlin) Victorian. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart. Tony received his education in rural districts 72 and 37 of McLeod County and graduated from Brownton High School in 1953.
In October 1953, Tony enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving until his honorable discharge in October 1961 with the rank of Sergeant E-5.
On June 8, 1955, Tony was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joanne Kostecka, daughter of William and Frances Kostecka, at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe. Their 70 years of marriage were blessed with 10 children, 24 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Tony was employed by Fullerton Lumber Company from 1955 to 1964, working in Brownton, Gaylord, Fairfax, and Watertown. He later worked for Don Knott Lumber in Silver Lake from 1964 to 1967. In September 1967, he began his career with McLeod County as Assistant County Assessor under Wes Abram. In 1977, he was appointed County Assessor, a position he held until his retirement in 1997. During his career, Tony was a member of the Minnesota Association of Assessors and the International Association of Assessors.
Tony was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and later the combined Church of the Holy Family. He served his parish in many ways, including on the church council, finance committee, school building committee, and cemetery board. He also served for many years as an usher, a Eucharistic minister, and as a part-time janitor during his retirement.
He was a member of both the Watertown Fire Department and the Silver Lake Fire Department, serving for 20 years before retiring in 1985. Tony was also a past member of the Silver Lake High School Board and the Lions Club. He was an honorary lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #1841.
Tony loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He treasured time at the family cabin on North Long Lake in Brainerd, where he liked to relax and fish. He was an avid deer hunter. He also took pleasure in attending high school sporting events and cherished time with friends as a member of the Silver Lake Senior Citizens Club and Degree of Honor.
Tony is survived by his wife Joanne, and his children Deb (Mike) Kline, Kathy Scott, Mike Victorian, Pat (Beth) Victorian, Barb Bock, Sue (Jerry) Victorian, Margie (Bob) Yurek, Pam (Jeff) Konen, Tami (Bob) Merrill and daughter-in-law Theresa Victorian, along with his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Kostecka, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter; son Tom Victorian; daughter-in-law Kim Victorian; granddaughter Crystal Victorian; parents Oliver and Mary Victorian; sister Bernice Gorman; brothers Howard Victorian and Melvin Victorian; in-laws William and Francis Kostecka; and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Raymond Kostecka, William Kostecka, Irene Shovelain, Elroy Shovelain, Jane Kostecka and Beatrice Kostecka.
The family of Tony thank you sincerely for sharing in our sorrow. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered. No thank you cards will be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
