Obituary

Avis Dorothy Posusta, age 85 of Silver Lake, MN, passed away October 1, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on October 2, 1934 in Hutchinson Township, MN to Joseph and Dorothy (Telecky) Reml. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Catholic faith.

Avis, an only child, grew up on the family farm in rural Silver Lake. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade and continued through 10th grade at Silver Lake Public School.

On December 30, 1950, she was joined in holy marriage to Anthony Posusta Jr., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake, now known as Holy Family Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with six sons.

Avis was a devoted wife and loving mother who always made her family a priority and loved taking care of their needs. She was an excellent cook, and would provide delicious homecooked meals and baked goods for family and friends to enjoy. She often put others needs ahead of hers, and never asked for anything in return. Her generous heart and warm personality easily allowed her to make friends with just about anyone. Avis was humble, kind, and hard-working. After raising six sons, she worked in housekeeping for the Glencoe Municipal Hospital for 14 years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed spending time watching and feeding the birds, tending her flower gardens, canning, and completing puzzles. She also was very detailed in collecting newspaper clippings and other memorabilia of her family member’s life achievements. Avis was a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.

Avis is preceded in death by her son, Lawrence; grandson, Justin Posusta; and parents, Joseph and Dorothy Reml.
