David Kevin Mallak was born in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Mary Ann (Haekenkamp) Mallak on May 23, 1957. He graduated from Chaska High School in 1975.

David met his partner of 45 years, Wendy Puckett, in 1981. They had one child on May 19, 1998 who was born Lilianna Lee Mallak (and who now goes by Lee Marian Mangler). Dave and Wendy lived in Chaska, MN until 2007, when they moved to Silver Lake, MN.

Dave had a number of jobs, including multiple restaurant jobs, caddying at a local golf course, and doing auto body work and car painting across Chaska. He was well-known for his talent and enthusiasm as a car painter. He worked the last 20 years at Chaska School District as a custodial engineer before retiring in 2024.

Dave enjoyed fishing on Swan Lake, building model cars, fixing up and painting cars, going to car shows, watching NASCAR races, dancing, playing cribbage, and listening to music. He was a gentle soul and loved to have a good time and make people laugh. He had an excellent Donald Duck impression, which he loved to show off.

Survived by his child Lee (Daniel) Mangler. Partner Wendy Puckett. Siblings Thomas Mallak, Donna (Steve) Holmberg, and Mark (Teresa) Mallak. Nieces and nephews Robert Holmberg, Laura Holmberg, Martin Mallak, and Isabell (Cole) Willock and grandnieces and grandnephew Abigail Willock, Meakah Holmberg, and Owen Holmberg.

David passed away on May 27, 2026 at home. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, parents by partnership, brother by partnership Jeff Puckett, sister-in-law Jennifer Mallak, and many other treasured family members and friends.

He was a good man, and we will miss him dearly.
