Evelyn Esther Chacka was born April 19, 1925, the tenth child of Karl and Emilia (Rannow) Schultz in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, MN. She was baptized as an infant at the Church of Peace in Glencoe, MN and confirmed there on April 10, 1938. She attended School District 74 and Glencoe High School. She worked at the Glencoe Bus Depot, Ida’s Cafe and the Glencoe Bakery prior to her marriage to Bernard Chacka on January 22, 1946. They made their home on the Chacka farm south of Silver Lake. She then worked at Green Giant from 1950 until 1957 and then 29 years at 3M Company in Hutchinson, MN, retiring in 1986. Her husband Bernard passed away on December 10, 1981 and she married Glen Carlson on September 30, 1988. Glen passed away on December 1, 2004.
Through the years, she visited her sister Irene in Riverside, CA several times and later would meet her for vacations in Las Vegas. She enjoyed traveling and went to Florida, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. with her son Lyle and his family and several times to Branson with her husband Glen. Evelyn enjoyed family and friends and loved to play cards and bingo. She was very active in the Women’s Guild at the Church of Peace, having served as Group Leader and President.
She is survived by her son Lyle and wife Cheryl of Stillwater, MN, granddaughter Tracy Chacka, grandsons Terence, Brian (Monica) and David (Kristen), great grandsons Charlie, Ricky and Radek, one niece and many nephews.
Preceding her in death was her son Larris, her parents Karl and Emilia Schultz, brothers Alfred, Albert and Charles Schultz; sisters Frieda Schultz, Mabel Grack (Harold), Della Fraundienz (Chester), Elsie Perschau (Ernest), Selma Perschau (Edwin) and Irene Dougherty (Joe); sisters-in-law Marie Schultz, Gertrude Schultz, Elsie Trantanella and Adeline Osmek (Albin); and brothers-in-law George Chacka, Edwin Perschau, Ernest Pershau, Chester Fraundienz, Harold Grack, Albin Osmek, Joe Trantanella and Joe Dougherty.
Funeral services for Evelyn Chacka will be held on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. Pastor Al Fiene will officiate.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14th from 1-3 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
