Frances Elizabeth (Vlcek) Knick, age 94, of Silver Lake passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, with her daughter Joyce by her side. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her love of life touched those around her.
Frances “Fran” was born on April 12, 1929, to Frank and Genevieve Vlcek, she was the oldest of three siblings. She was baptized on December 1, 1929, in The Presbyterian Church of Silver Lake.
Fran grew up just outside of Silver Lake and loved spending her time competing in roller skate dancing and tap dancing.
She also won a national competition in penmanship.
In 1953, she was married to Willfred Fasching. This marriage was blessed with three children, Mike, Barb and Joyce. After their divorce, she was a hard-working single mother until she was united in marriage to Vernon E. Knick on November 30, 1968.
Fran had many jobs over the years including working at Tonka Toys and Hansen Landfill in Hutchinson. In her free time, she went with Vern to tape polka dances, volunteered with The Silver Lake Lions and enjoyed many years of bowling with her daughters.
Fran enjoyed many things in life. A few of her favorite past times were playing bingo, listening to music, doing word puzzles and playing cards. She especially enjoyed coming to Joyce’s Lake home in the spring where she could enjoy all the new wildlife babies.
Fran is survived by her brother: Bob (Ruth) Vlcek; daughter: Joyce (Dave) Baumgartner; son-in-law: Sid Alsleben; grandchildren: Josh (Katie) Fasching, Mandy (Joe) Mayland, Dustin (Kim) Fasching, Ryan (Krissy) Alsleben, Nathen (Tami) Fasching, Jacob (Abby) Teubert and Jenny (Alex) Demers; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Genevieve, a sister Genevieve, husband Vern, a son Mike, a daughter Barb and by a son-in-law Joel.
A Memorial Service for Frances Knick will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, at 10:00 A.M, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake. Pastor Laura Messer will officiate.
Inurnment The Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6th from 9:00 A.M. until time of services AT THE CHURCH.
