George Henry Lhotka, age 74, of Silver Lake passed away on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at Yuma Reginal Health Center in Yuma, Arizonia.
He was born on January 22, 1942 in Silver Lake the son of George & Mary (Wosmek) Lhotka.
George honorably served his Country in The United States Army serving 9 ½ years.
On July 10, 1971, George H. Lhotka and Helen E. Grack were joined in holy marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. God blessed their marriage with two sons.
He formerly owned George’s Garage for thirty six years.
George enjoyed flying, playing golf with his sons, gardening, helping other people, going on trips and fishing with his buddy Felix.
He was faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. George was a longtime member of The Silver Lake Fire Department where he served as Civil Defense Director and Assistant Fire Chief. He also belonged to The Civil Air Patrol and to The Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club. George was a Past Commander of The Silver Lake American Legion Post #141 and had served as its gambling manager. He was a member of The V.F.W. and The D.A.V. both in Hutchinson. George was a Past Chairman of The Silver Lake Pool Committee and was Pola-Chesky Days Grand Marshall in 2000.
Survived by his loving wife Helen; sons Timothy Lhotka of Plymouth and Aaron Lhotka of Chicago, Illinois; brothers: Ray (Joyce) Lhotka of Silver Lake, Don (Marion) Lhotka of Lester Prairie, Francis (Pok-Hui) Lhotka of Seattle, Washington, Roger (Genny) Lhotka and Larry (Janice) Lhotka all of Silver Lake; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents George & Mary Lhotka, a sister Beatrice and her husband Eddie Kulinski, a brother-in-law Dennis Grack, father-in-law & mother-in-law Halbert and Edna Grack and by a brother-in-law Howard Grack.
A Concelebrated Memorial Mass for George Lhotka will be held on Monday, March 7th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Tony Stubeda and Father Paul Schumacher will be the Concelebrants.
A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, March 6th from 3-7 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 6:45 P.M. Further visitation will be held on Monday morning, March 7th from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
