Ken Stritesky, 71, of Silver Lake died peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace comfort care facility in St Paul.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:30 am, Monday, January 11, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. The Reverend Paul Schumacher will be the celebrant. Music performed by Lucy Newcomb and Wade Bryan.
Casket bearers are Roger Korista, Dale Yurek, Donald Humlichek, Brian Nemec, Dale Syvertson and Alan Piehl. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Ken Stritesky was born to Otto and Emily (Dusoski) Stritesky of Silver Lake. He graduated from Silver Lake High School. On November 23, 1963, Ken Stritesky and Minerva Mikolichek were united in marriage at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. The Striteskys made their home near Silver Lake. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Sherlyn, Wade and Paul. They shared 52 years of marriage.
Ken was one of the founding members of the Silver Lake Softball Association. He scheduled the league games and the Silver Lake Tournament. He enjoyed pitching for the Silver Lake fast-pitch softball team winning the State Championship in 1973 and again in 1980 when he played for the Sterner’s team of Winsted.
Ken was owner/driver of Stritesky Trucking for 42 years. Ken and his dad, Otto, were partners hauling livestock and freight until Otto’s retirement in 1983. As sole proprietor, Ken hauled just freight until retiring in 2007.
Ken enjoyed classic rock music, listening to bands, traveling, golf, fishing, playing cards, ribbing his family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Minerva Stritesky; children Sheryln Kapsner of Big Lake, Wade (Jodi) Stritesky and Paul (Carolyn) Stritesky both of Eden Prairie; grandchildren Brandon and Kori Kapsner and Tyson Stritesky; sisters Donna (Leon) Pesina of Glencoe and Norma Wawrzyniak of Silver Lake; mother-in-law Viola Kielas of Howard Lake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Artmann of Silver Lake, Delores (Jack) Sweeney of Cornell, WI, Harvey (Connie) Mikolichek and Clarence (Melinda) Mikolichek both of Silver Lake, Theresa (Jeff) Rich of Cokato, Dean (Karen) Mikolichek of Silver Lake, Linda (Ernie Meyer) Gieson of La Feria, TX, Donald (Karen) Kielas of Silver Lake and Francis Helmbrecht of Hutchinson; 51 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Otto and Emily Stritesky; fathers-in-law Theophil Mikolichek and Henry Kielas; brother-in-law Clem Artmann; nieces DeAnn Sweeney and Kim Kielas; and great-niece Mileka Hall.
Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake, MN assisted the family with arrangements.
