Marie Catherine Wanous, age 95, of rural Hutchinson passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on August 15, 1920 in Glencoe the daughter of Frank & Frances (Klobe) Donnay.
On October 11, 1945, Marie C. Donnay and Howard E. Wanous were joined in holy marriage in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three daughters.
Marie and Howard engaged in dairy farming in Rich Valley Township for many years. They also raised hogs and sheep.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, crossword puzzles, reading and gardening.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Marie also belonged to the C.C.W. and Rosary Society. She was formerly a member of The Silver Lake Lion’s Club.
Survived by her loving daughters: Geraldine (Daniel) Giehtbrock of Hutchinson, Nancy (Richard) Hahn of Cambridge, Minnesota and Kathleen (John) Andreasen of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister: Joanne Schmeling; a sister-in-law: Leona Donnay; a brother-in-law: Leonard Noga all of Glencoe; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Wanous, her parents Frank & Frances Donnay and by eleven brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial for Marie Wanous will be held on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Paul Schumacher will be the Celebrant. Alice Nowak will be the organist for the Mass. Interment will follow at The Bohemian National Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27th from 4-8 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A Prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning, January 28th at the funeral home from 9-10 A.M.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Katia Frock, Miles Giehtbrock, Ellen Giehtbrock, Kiersten Giehtbrock, Allison Wendlandt, Alexis Wendlandt, Aleigh Wendlandt, Maren Frock and Grayson Frock.
Casket Bearers Sean Andreasen, Erik Andreasen, David Giehtbrock, Corey Wendlandt, Brent Wendlandt and Ryan Wendlandt.
