Norbert Joseph Schermann

Norbert Joseph Schermann, age 87, of Silver Lake passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Haven Homes in Maple Plain.

He was born on August 4, 1934 in Winsted the son of Frank and Anna (Stifter) Schermann.

Norbert graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1952.

On October 16, 1956, Norbert J. Schermann and Marlene Kaczmarek were joined in holy marriage at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver Lake.   God blessed their marriage with ten children.

He was formerly employed at Ed’s Garage as a mechanic, drove a milk truck, worked at Schwartz Manufacturing and retired from Lester’s.  Norbert also ran the Laundromat in Silver Lake for twenty-seven years.

Norbert loved fishing, bird watching and camping.   He drove a golf cart every morning for coffee with friends.

He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. He was an active member of the Silver Lake Lions Club.

Survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty-five years: Marlene; children: Kevin Schermann (Bonnie Ardolf), Kay (Jerry) Borrell, Shari (Dale) Rannow, Bruce (Ann) Schermann, Michael (Lois) Schermann, Duane (Joanne) Schermann, Loren Schermann, Sue Alberts (Kevin Latzig), Gary (Robyn) Schermann and Steve (Tammy) Schermann; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sisters: Marcella Pokornowski and Laura Kaczmarek; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Donald and Hubert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert Schermann will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.   Father Matthew Wiering will be the Celebrant.   Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Alice Nowak will be the organist for the funeral Mass.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 1st from 9 a.m until time of Mass AT THE CHURCH.

Casket Bearers will be Norbert’s seven sons.
