Robert Simondet

Robert Douglas Simondet, age 61 of Silver Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. He was born March 1, 1956 in Glencoe, the son of Douglas and Mary (Bushell) Simondet.

Bob was a 1974 graduate of Glencoe High School. He played the trumpet and received one of the highest musical achievements in school, the John Philip Sousa Award. He was also invited to audition for the United States Marine Corps Band. Bob was very passionate about music and playing the trumpet, he idolized Doc Severinsen.

On September 18, 1976, Robert Simondet and Katherine Navratil were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. They were blessed with two sons, Ross and Jeff.

Bob was a front end mechanic at Sam’s Tire and worked in sales in the Green Industry for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling, campfires, and those dang fireworks that shook the town. He also enjoyed caring for his lawn, watching and feeding the birds, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and watching all sports, grilling and having a fish fry, and he loved his golden retrievers. Bob was very mechanically inclined who always wanted to fix everything rather than getting something new.

He is preceded in death by his father, Doug Simondet; father-in-law, Jim Navratil; and nephew, Marc Smith.

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy Simondet of Silver Lake; sons, Ross Simondet of Everett, WA, Jeff Simondet of Aurora, MN; mother, Mary Simondet of Hutchinson; siblings, Diane Montague (Mike) of Orlando, FL, Annette Schwarze (John) of Lester Prairie, Pam Kormylo of Minneapolis, Bill Simondet (Carol) of Litchfield, Michael Simondet of Hutchinson, Maureen Simondet of Hutchinson; mother-in-law, Deannie Navratil of Silver Lake; siblings-in-law, Vonnie Nelson (friend, Richard Fimon) of Glencoe, Jim Navratil (Dianne) of Silver Lake, Deb Bebo (Bruce) of Silver Lake, Mike Navratil (Karen) of Winsted; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Paul Schumacher as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Silver Lake.

A big thank you to everyone for their outpouring of love and support we received the day of Robert Simondet’s memorial Mass on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. In lieu of sending thank you cards, memorials will be given to a charity in Bob’s name. We would also like to thank everyone who has brought food and given support to us at home, the beautiful flowers received, and all the prayers and acts of sympathy.
