Roger Robert Line was born on April 23, 1947 in Long Prairie, Minnesota. He was the son of Robert Line and Jeanette (Mashuga) Line. Roger was baptized on May 4, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Browerville, Minnesota. He attended elementary school at St. Joseph Parochial School and high school at Browerville High School, graduating with the class of 1965. Roger entered active military service in the United States Army on September 12, 1967. He began his telecommunications career while in the Army and served tours in both Vietnam and the Panama Canal Zone. He received an Honorable Discharge on February 13, 1972.
Roger was the proud father of Jennifer (Swanson) Mein. On May 6, 1993 Roger was united in marriage to Lorelei “Lori” Trnka at the Ponderosa at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. After first residing in Hutchinson, they built their dream home in the country.
Roger began employment with United Telephone Company after his military service. He began as an installer and through hard work and extensive training courses he retired after 40 years of service as a Network Installation Supervisor covering a 5-state territory for successor company CenturyLink. He then became employed part-time for Valley Chevrolet in Hutchinson doing dealer transfers and customer service shuttle driving.
Roger was a kind and generous man, loved by all. He was always willing to help someone in need in his quiet, humble way. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles and over the years he and Lori traveled on them thru many states and Canada. He loved boating, water skiing, fishing, hunting, camping, country music festivals, going to movies and taking care of his country acres by mowing most of it with his beloved 1947 Farmall tractor gifted to him by his father. In his younger days he was known for really nice and fast cars.
Roger passed away on December 6 in the comfort of his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Roger is survived by his wife Lori, daughter Jennifer (Kent) Mein, grandchildren Rachel and Zachary Mein, sister Betty Hauer, mother-in-law Lorraine Trnka, brothers-in-law Russell Trnka and Kevin (Nancy) Trnka, nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jeanette Line, infant sisters Geraldine and Darlene, brothers Stanley and Jerome and sisters-in-law Linda Line and Brenda Trnka.
Blessed be his memory!
