Roger Leonard Mallak, age 73, of Silver Lake passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014.
He was born on April 14, 1941 in Hale Township, McLeod County the son of Dominic & Lucy E. (Mallak) Mallak.
Roger honorably served his Country in The United States Navy.
On October 20, 1964, Roger L. Mallak and Joyce J. Urban were joined in holy marriage in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three children.
He owned and operated for many years Roger Mallak Excavating. Roger loved the work he did and took pride in it. He enjoyed visiting with people and friends he met on the way, he always had time to visit. He also loved working on projects at his shop. Roger formerly had a milk route and a sewer truck. He also currently did snow removal and opened graves.
Roger enjoyed going to auctions. He loved his family especially his grandson Blake.
Survived by wife: Joyce J. Mallak; daughters: Lynn Mallak (Scott Olsen) of Embarrass and Shelly (Matt) Hahn of Silver Lake; a grandson: Blake; sisters and a brother: Shirley Fiecke of Winsted, Glenn (Judy) Mallak and Sandy Heuer all of Silver Lake; a brother-in-law: Bernie Zejdlik of Hutchinson; sister-in-laws: Bea (Don) Ranzau and Joan (Jim) Lawrence all of Hutchinson; close family friend: Jim Zeik of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by a son: Rich Mallak, his parents, a sister: Audrey Zejdlik, brothers-in-law: Marvin Fiecke, Gary Heuer and Bob Urban, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Ruby Urban.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Roger Mallak will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Tony Stubeda and Father Paul Schumacher will be the Concelebrants. Readers will be Glenn Mallak and Jeff Mallak. Gift Bearers will be Matt and Blake Hahn. Special music by Bobbi Ludwig.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th from 11:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at the church.
