Rose Posusta Obituary

Rose Marie (Kremer) Posusta, age 92 of Dassel, Minnesota, passed away on October 21, 2021.

Rose was born on April 30, 1929 in Olivia, Minnesota to Albert and Anna (Harazin) Kremer. She spent her youth living in Lake Lillian, and eventually moved to Hutchinson to work for 3M.

On August 23, 1948, she was joined in marriage to Raymond A. Posusta at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Ray and Rose engaged in farming in Victor Township, South of Howard Lake from 1950-1968.  Rose not only took care of raising their children, but she managed handling many of the farm’s chores including: milking cows, planting and harvesting crops, raising, butchering and selling chickens, tending flower and vegetable gardens.  Rose also canned much of her produce and made wine from grapes and other fruits.   Rose and Ray sold their farm in 1968 and built a new house on County Road #30 Howard Lake.  In 1995 Rose and Ray moved to Cokato where they lived until 2014.

Rose was a devoted wife and mother. She always made sure everyone’s needs were met; her hospitality and generous heart were evident when she had visitors over. She always provided freshly baked treats and made huge meals for all to enjoy - you would never leave her home with an empty stomach. One of her favorite baked goods was to make kolachy’s from various flavors like prune, rhubarb, apricots and poppyseed. Everything was made from scratch. Over the years, she sold many of her goodies at her garage sales, which typically sold out quickly.

Rose was a talented seamstress, creating clothing for her children and many quilts/blankets to give as gifts to family and friends. While she’d sew, bake, crochet and/or embroider, she’d be listening to her favorite kind of music: polkas and waltzes. Rose and Ray loved to go out and dance to old time music, play cards with friends, and ride snowmobiles together.

Her bubbly and joyful personality was always shining through. People knew Rose’s distinct laugh, and her laughter was contagious. She had a warm, caring and fun loving personality, and had a very kind soul.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Anna Kremer;  her beloved husband: Raymond; her son: Gale;  grandchildren:  Jacob and Daniel; and brother and sister-in-law: Harold and Lorraine Kremer.

Rose is survived by her children, Gloria (Larry) Kotila of Dassel, Glen (Lois) Posusta of Big Lake, Randy Posusta of Phoenix, Arizona and Joseph Posusta of Lakeville, daughter in law Helena Posusta of Dassel; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
