Roselia G. (Gums) Lang

Roselia G. “Sally” Lang, age 90, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at The Lakeview Ranch in Dassel.

She was born on April 26, 1923 about fifteen miles west of Streeter, North Dakota the daughter of Phillip & Elizabeth (nee Meier) Gums.  She was confirmed in the Friedenstahl Lutheran Church in the country.

On December 20th, 1946 Roselia G. Gums and Leo C. Lang were joined in holy marriage.  They lived in Jamestown, North Dakota for two years, then they moved to Huron, South Dakota until August of 1966 when they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota.  This marriage was blessed with three children: Sharon, Leonard and Garnette.  They shared sixty years of marriage.

Roselia was a hard worker!  She loved the Lord and showed her love by hard work.  Plus raising three children she worked out of the home in order to give her children a Christian education.

After her children were out of the house she worked at Dorcus now “Twice is Nice”.  She made many quilts for the Dorcus to be given away to needy families.  She also made quilts for her children, nieces and nephews.

Roselia was baptized by emersion in 1955 and joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  This was a hard step for her because she was close to her family and they were all Lutheran.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidery, puzzles, music and art.  Roselia was featured in The Hutchinson Leader in 1984 by Mildred Kovar for all her crafts.

We are looking forward to seeing her soon when Jesus comes a second time to take his living and sleeping (dead) saints home to be with him.

Roselia is survived by her three children: Sharon Lang of Hutchinson, Leonard Lang of Newcastle, Wyoming and Garnette (Dan) Nelson of Monticello; two grandsons: John (Crystal) Marvan of Silver Lake and Michael (Kelly) Marvan of Hutchinson; two great grandchildren: Cameron and Clayton Marvan; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband: Leo in 2007, her parents, a brother: Edward Gums and sisters: Louise Lang and Lillie Wanner.

Funeral services for Roselia Lang will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hutchinson. 

Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 20th at the Church from 5-7 P.M.    Further visitation will be held on Friday morning, March 21st from 8:30 a.m. till time of service at the church.

Casket Bearers will be John Marvan, Michael Marvan, Dan Nelson, Leonard Lang, Roger Hahn and Rick Heidecker.
