Susan Marie "Susie" (Jurek) Vasek

Susan Marie “Susie” Vasek, age 66, of Silver Lake passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on May 28, 1959 in Glencoe the daughter of James P. & Marilyn “Lovey” (Schade) Jurek Jr.

Susie married the love of her life, Gerald Vasek on August 30, 2014 at their home and gained three wonderful bonus children.

She worked at Telex Communications for twenty-eight years and then went to work for RTW/Liberty Mutual until she retired. She also formerly worked as a part-time bartender at The Silver Lake Municipal.

Susie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.

She also was a member of The Silver Lake Lions, former member of Silver Lake Ambulance, Glencoe Ambulance and past member of The Civic Association.

Susie loved to travel and attend country music festivals, mainly Winstock! She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family! Susie also enjoyed antiquing with her friends.

Survived by her loving husband: Gerald Vasek; step children: Jen (Mike) Schuette, Jill Vasek and fiancé Brandon Woytcke and Mike (Cleo) Vasek; step grandchildren: Harper & Carson Schuette; Jayden & Kayce Woytcke and William, Esme, Charlie & Noah Vasek; brothers: Doug (Lynn) Jurek and Mike (Chas) Jurek; nephews: Aaron (Brenda) Jurek and Justin (Nicole) Jurek; nieces: Emmalee & Lauren Jurek; great nieces: Chloe & Delaney Jurek & Addie Jurek; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her loving parents James P. & Marilyn “Lovey” Jurek and by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Leslie and Mildred Vasek.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026 from 4-7 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Susan “Susie’ Vasek will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Michael Doyle will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery.

Urn Bearer will be Aaron “AJ” Jurek.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
